About OCHC
Established in 1936, Old Canberrans Hockey Club (OCHC) has been a cornerstone of Canberra's hockey community for nearly nine decades. Our club's inception traces back to two visionary teachers from Telopea Park School, Arthur "Curly" Martin and Les Williams, who entered two teams into the local competition, laying the foundation for what would become a rich sporting legacy.
Throughout its history, OCHC has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to fostering both athletic excellence and community spirit. The club prides itself on being family-oriented, offering robust programs for senior men and women, as well as a dynamic junior development initiative. This inclusive approach ensures that players of all ages and skill levels find a supportive environment to develop their talents and passion for the game.
The name ‘Checks’ by which the teams are generally known, came from the distinctive shirt of black and gold checks on the uniform.
As a testament to its enduring legacy, OCHC continues to adapt and thrive, honouring its rich history while embracing modern developments in the sport and paving the way for multigenerational family participation.

OCHC is a volunteer organisation run by a committee of volunteers, committee members are elected annually by the members at the Annual General Meeting.
